Arthur M. Turner
AUBURN – Arthur was born in Rumford and graduated from Mexico High School and Gordon Christian College. He worked his entire adult life in the hospitality business, finding a permanent home in Newton, Mass. at Brae Burn Country Club, where he retired after 40 years.
After retirement, he moved to Portland where he was active in the Sr. College, parish activities, and an active participant in the Pride Parade and festivities. He later relocated to Schooner Estates in Auburn to be near his niece and “nephew”. He loved Schooner and participated in nearly all activities and outings with his “Schooner family”. He proudly showed off his Schooner tattoo, the last of many that beautifully illustrated the story of his life and his faith.
He loved the Lord like no other from a very early age. He attended Mexico First Baptist Church in his hometown. In his adult life, he was an active member and deacon of Trinity Church Boston, Cathedral Church of St. Luke’s, Portland, and most recently St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Auburn.
He loved his family and excitedly spent every holiday celebrating with them. He lived the last six months of his life with his goddaughter, Jen and best friend, Wayne. He passed away peacefully at her home with his family and beloved kitty, Skippy.
He was predeceased by his parents, Gerald E. and Lula M. Turner, formerly of Mexico.
He is survived by his brother, Craig E. and his “sister” Lillian Turner of Hanover; his nieces Jeanette Jacques and her husband Jeffrey, of Rumford, his niece, Jennifer and “nephew” Wayne”; and many, many friends.
