BETHEL — According to data compiled by Mainebiz, Bethel’s median house sale prices increased 25% in 2023. Top in the state.

“Bethel, Gorham and Harpswell top the list of “Maine’s Hottest Towns of 2023,” according to writer, Peter Van Allen who cited data from Maine Life Real Estate team at eXp Realty, a national real estate firm based in Bellingham, Washington. They compiled the list based on data from the multiple listing service operated by Maine Real Estate Information Services Inc.

The ranking recognizes communities with the largest percentage growth in median sales prices during 2023.

Following Bethel in ranking are: Gorham (22.2%); Harpswell (19.2%); Falmouth (17.04%); Saco (16.55%); Rockland (15.93%); Lisbon (15.53%); Ellsworth (15.2%); Sanford (15.06%); and Portland (14.38%).

Notably,  except for Bethel, all of the other towns in the list are on, or close to, the Maine coast.

Maine Life Real Estate’s description of Bethel reads, “Known for its appeal to outdoor enthusiasts, Bethel stands out, showcasing the demand for properties in this scenic town.

“Bethel is surrounded by mountains, offering residents and visitors access to skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

“The town’s historic charm, cultural events, and proximity to outdoor adventures make it a top choice for those seeking a vibrant community with a focus on an active lifestyle.”
