Vicky A. “Meme” Mason

AUBURN – Vicky A. “Meme” Mason, 81, of North Turner, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Hospice House of Androscoggin, surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 1, 1942, in Lewiston, the daughter of A. Rockwood Page and Harriet L. (Rose) Page. She was a graduate of Leavitt Institute in Turner and later returned to school receiving her LPN in 1985 from Central Maine School of Nursing. On Sept. 21, 1961, she married Robert “Bob” Mason of North Turner. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage before his passing on April 23, 2018. After graduating with her LPN Vicky worked at CMMC with pediatric patients, something she thoroughly enjoyed but was only able to do for a year due to back injuries sustained in a car accident. Vicky’s passion and lifelong career was working at Ricker Hill Apple Orchard first in the packing room and then later in the office. It was here that she met some of her best friends. She also dedicated 30 years to the town of Turner by managing and maintaining the Boofy Quimby Memorial Center. She spent many Tuesday nights playing and winning Beano at the BQMC. She loved to gamble, scratch tickets, the casino, all of it. On most days if you were looking for Vicky, you could probably find her in her garden even if only for an hour or two in the evening. A place that became a backdrop for her granddaughters’ prom pictures, family photos, and even weddings. She was so proud of her gardens and especially proud of the newspaper article that included her and her work. She loved her lunch dates and shopping with her best friend and sister Gin. Above all, Vicky loved her family. Nothing made her happier than spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Holidays, birthday gatherings, any excuse to get together. She loved her great-grandchildren fiercely and was arguably their biggest fan on any given sideline.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Kirk and husband Doug of Leeds, and Bradley Mason of Auburn; three grandchildren, Ashley Alden and boyfriend Matt Charest of Leeds, Dr. Kate Kirk-Provencher and husband Dayle of Colorado, and Kyle Kirk of New Hampshire; three great-grandchildren, Mason and Wyatt Henderson, Temperance Kirk and soon to be Baby Provencher; her sisters, Virginia Burgess and Valerie Hartford and husband Gerald and sister-in-law, Debra Page all of Leeds; sisters-in law Ann Morris, Jean Tucker, Judy Gallop, Meredith Bigg, Margaret Blodgett, Joanne Keene, Marsha LaPlante and Julie Mason. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Robert Mason, brother, Steven Page, Sr., sisters-in-law Gayla Judd and Shirley Mahaney, brothers-in-law Gerald Burgess, and Jerald and Randy Mason.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Donnie Ricker and the entire Ricker Family for their years of unwavering love and support. They would also like to thank the ER and SSU units at CMMC for their care for the last week and to the Hospice House of Androscoggin for their care and compassion.
