FT. MYERS, Fla. – Peter J. Moran, 78, of Ft. Myers, Fla., passed away on Dec. 19, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Born on Feb. 13, 1945, he was raised in Brightwaters, N.Y. and on his beloved Great South Bay.
After graduating from La Salle Military Academy in 1962, Peter went on to Georgetown University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service in 1966. He then embarked on a career as a consultant at Arthur Andersen and later as an Operations Executive in the Commodities Industry, working with firms such as Salomon Brothers, Pershing, and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. Peter also served on the Board of Directors of Moran Towing and Transportation Company.
Peter had a love for sailing and he and Deborah spent many wonderful days sailing the Cytherea on the Great South Bay and the coast of Maine, always with his trusty camera.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Moran. He is also survived by his sisters Marie Moran and Christine Moran; his children, Patrick Moran and Maria Dugan, Elizabeth and Lloyd Bell, Jason and Rosely Harrison, Taylor-Paige and Josh Bourque and former daughter-in-law, Kerith Moran. Peter was a loving grandfather to Kyle and Jennifer Moran, Regan Moran and Robert Camaj, Stephen Bell, Brynna Moran, Andy Bell, Jason Cote, Madison Cote, Grace Cote, Rylee Bourque and Evie Bourque. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Marie Moran; and his brothers Eugene Moran and Michael Moran.
