Duane E. Harrington

SCARBOROUGH – Duane E. Harrington, 69, of Monmouth, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Oct. 28, 1954, in Lewiston, the son of George and Lois (Burnham) Harrington. He attended school in Monmouth and Winthrop. On Nov. 20, 1971, at the Leeds Community Church, he married Katherine Carol Ann Burgess of Leeds.

He worked for Elmet Technologies in Lewiston for almost 39 years as a machinist and cost estimator. He enjoyed working on cars, researching on the computer, spending time in the garage with his tools, having the perfect lawn, gardening and could fix anything without ever giving up. Everything he accomplished in life was for his family. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Katherine Harrington who always called him “Babe”; daughters, Melissa Cameron, Nicole Harrington and Laurie Harrington, son, Duane “Dee” Harrington, daughter-in-law, Keri Chadbourne; grandchildren Max Robitaille, Moesha Harrington, Mikayla Cameron, Parker Robitaille, Breeanna Cameron, Annabeth English; and the light of his life, his great-granddaughter, Amira Rose LeClaire; as well as many other close relatives.

He was predeceased by his parents George and Lois Harrington; sister, Penny Radley; and grandparents Harry and Lillian Burnham. He was also predeceased by his daughter, Laurie Ann Harrington in 2013.
