RUMFORD —  Mountain Valley Rec Basketball League’s Smart Care PT, Inc. (6-3, 2nd place) got a last second turn around jump shot from Cody St Germain on an inbound pass that gave Hotel Rumford (8-1) their first loss of the season, 64-63.

In a defensive battle that was close throughout, the second place Smart Care team split the season series with The Hotel. Smart Care had 2 players in double figures, the St Germain brothers, Cody (20 points) and Nick (10). The Hotel had 3 top scorers, JT Taylor 20 points, Owen Jones 15 (4 threes) and Matt McCarthy 11 (3 threes).

In other action at MVHS, A & G Custom Carpentry (6-3, third place) defeated Jay (3-6), 101-90. A & G double digit scorers were Malik Farley 31 points, Kalen Chase 21, Joe Gaudreau(4 threes) and Mateo Lapointe (3 threes) 13 each and Keagan Pitcher 11. Steve Dougher paced Jay with 26 points (3 threes), followed by Logan Sumner 22, Jake Turner 15 and Levi Armandi 13.

At Mountain Valley Middle School, two non-competitive games saw Mt Blue (6-3, third place) defeat Stix and Stones (0-9), 96-48. Mt Blue had 4 players with top scores, Kaiden Pillsbury 32 points (4 threes), JT Williams 23, Eric Berry 22 and Kenyon Pillsbury 19. Cody Dolloff had 23 points (7 threes) for S n S.

Then Clean Cut Painting (5-4, fifth place) soundly defeated Dixfield (2-7), 102-61. Jevin Smith had a big game with 33 points. He was helped by Will Bean 19 and Mike Pare 15 (3 threes). Dixfield was led by Glen Dubois with 7 threes, 21points, Arick Richard 16 (3 threes), Cam Godbois and Gavin Hebert 12 each.
