To the Editor:

Thanks so much for taking the time to read my letter. I like wheels. All kinds of wheels. My favorite truck was a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins diesel on 37s and it would get 25 mpg! My favorite motorcycle was a Harley chopper with a solo seat, 21-inch sissybar with loud pipes that could shoot flames at the push of a button. Things change, I change, I witness change.

The seasons feel extreme. How can there be a 100-year weather event every couple of weeks, months, years? I started building my forever home over 10 years ago, out of used shipping containers that I would find on Craigslist. This homestead is my passion. Off-grid and sturdy. Solar panels power us. Wood from the property heats us. I evolve this housing project whenever I scrounge up enough money.

As a self-employed personal trainer, I lead a very independent and self-reliant lifestyle. This lifestyle is not for the weak. I pride myself on the grit it takes. It is empowering. Electric vehicles are the future. Allow Mainers the freedom to breathe cleaner air.

Freedom of travel without relying on some other country’s gas and oil. The Board of Environmental Protection has the opportunity to vote in favor of the Advanced Clean Cars II Program. I hope they get to do their job and protect our home.
