Festival

OTISFIELD — On Saturday, February 10, come in from the cold and enjoy the warmth at the Soup, Chowder & Chili Fest at the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, 231 Rayville Road in Otisfield. Lunch will be served between 11:30-1 p.m. On the menu: Dutch Split Pea Soup, Carrot Ginger Soup, Portuguese Potato & Kale Soup, Ham and Cheddar Chowder, Fish Soup, Seafood Chowder, Venison Chili…and more.

All are served with rolls and biscuits, and there will be assorted bars and cookies for dessert. All donations will be graciously accepted with the proceeds going to our Food Pantry, which serves those in need in our local community. Hope to see you there, and feel free to bring a friend.

Competition

NAPLES — On Saturday, February 17 the Knights of Columbus Council 111376 of Bridgton/Fryeburg is sponsoring a Free Throw Competition for 9, 10, 11 12, 13, and 14-year-old boys and girls. The snow date is March 2.

The competition will be held at the Lake Region Middle School gym on  Kansas Rd in Naples from 12 noon to 2 p.m., Registration is at 11:30. Boys within each age group will compete against each other. The girls will do the same. The winners of each group will be eligible to compete in the KofC State Tournament, which will be held on March 9 in Old Town.

Fundraiser

PARIS — Rush Fitness will be accepting pet food and supplies at their fitness center this month in preparation for an event. The Pound for Paws event will be held on Saturday, February 24 at Rush Fitness LLC at 8 a.m. Rush Fitness is located on Western Avenue in Paris, right beside the fire station. All donations will be going to Responsible Pet Care.

Bees

NORWAY — Jennifer Lund, the Maine State Apiarist, will present to Oxford Hills Honey Bee Club’s monthly meeting, which will be held on February 10 at 1 p.m. at the Universalist Church on Main St. in Norway. Interested in information about keeping Honey Bees in Maine?

Have questions about your honey bees? Beekeepers ask lots of great questions. During this talk, Jen will discuss some of the most common honey bee management questions she gets asked as the Maine State Apiarist. Anyone interested in honey bees is welcome to attend.
