Maine poet Bob Clark of Windham presented and gifted to the city of Lewiston, a framed copy of his poem “Our Candle Vigil” during the Jan. 23 City Council meeting. Clark’s opening remarks set the poem’s context, which is his heartfelt reaction to those suffering as a result of the Oct. 25 mass shooting. He felt compelled to write, in an effort with others, to communicate support. As “Lewiston Strong” events publicly increased, ongoing candle vigils were taking place. These became the basis for his desire to write in honor of all the victims as a short, 14-line format “Our Candle Vigil.” In front is Mayor Carl Sheline, holding the framed poem with Bob Clark at right. In back from left are Ward 1 Councilor Joshua Nagine, Ward 3 Councilor/Council President Scott Harriman, Ward 5 Councilor Ryn Soule, Ward 6 Councilor David Chittim, Ward 4 Councilor Michael Roy and Ward 7 Councilor Tim Gallant.
