FARMINGTON — The annual Children’s Festival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mt. Blue High School at 129 Seamon Road.
Sponsored by the Franklin County Children’s Task Force in Farmington, admission is free.
Over 30 organizations are participating, along with law enforcement and fire service agencies, Rileigh Blanchet, social services director for the Task Force, said Tuesday.
Arts and crafts, science activities and literacy activities will be provided. There will also be book corners, temporary tattoos and face painting.
“We will also have an infant and toddler space that will be closed off from other spaces” to make it safe for them to roam around, Blanchet said.
In addition, there will be gross motor skill activities, such as skipping and running, done safely in a padded room.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will hold a K-9 demonstration. Mr. Drew and His Animals Too of Lewiston are also scheduled to attend. Balloon animals will be provided by Ricky Merrill of Jay.
Wilton Police Department is bringing a special guest, McGruff the Crime Dog. The department will provide safe kits containing items to assist police in finding children, if needed. There will be temporary tattoos and stickers also.
“We will have a hands-on room in the gym,” Blanchet said.
Concessions and a food court that includes pizza will have items for $1. Narrow Gauge Cinema in Farmington is providing the popcorn, Blanchet said.
The festival is extended from three hours to four this year, Blanchet said.
Guests are asked to park in the lot on the side of the school, near the football field, and enter through door 5.
