The Lewiston Public Library has partnered with the Ancient Brothers Lodge No. 178 and Ashlar Lodge No. 105 to bring the Masonic Lodge literacy program to children in Lewiston and Auburn March 1-31, as well as to give away brand new bikes and Kindle Fire tablets.
To participate, children in grades one through six will fill out a book review at the library. For every book review completed, a raffle ticket with their name will be entered into the drawing to win a bike or a tablet. Children can submit more than one book review. Once the winners are chosen, a reception will be scheduled in April for children to receive their bike or tablet in the Children’s Department at the Library at 200 Lisbon St.
The objectives of the program are fourfold:
• To increase children’s reading and comprehension skills;
• to recognize positive child achievements;
• to provide an attainable goal, with life enhancing results; and
• to get children to be active outside.
