BETHEL — Asked if he would welcome displaced Agnes Gray students to MSAD 44, Superintendent Mark Kenney said, “most definitely. Open arms.”
Kenney acknowledged the news for West Paris families is still settling in “and pretty raw.” MSAD 17’s Agnes Gray School in West Paris closed abruptly Feb. 5 by the school board who deemed it uninhabitable because of multiple safety concerns.
While students at AG would have to transfer districts he said they do have room for students at Woodstock Elementary School. He said there have been a couple of inquiries to the MSAD 44 schools but not to the central office yet.
“We are not being inundated yet … Were just sort of waiting and seeing,” said Kenney.
“We’ll know more as we get closer to vacation and after vacation. It’s too early and too raw for people to know what they are deciding … we may get a few kiddos this year and we’ll see what next year brings, too,” he said.
