AREA — Molly Ockett Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution encourages local teachers to apply for the Helen Pouch Memorial Fund Classroom Grant. Proposed projects must directly benefit students in the classroom. While funds may be used for supplies and educational resources, the applicant must detail how these items will help further the educational goals of the DAR. Meghan Griffin, a local high school English teacher, used her $500 grant to purchase graphic novels to supplement classroom texts for struggling and marginalized learners. The application is easy to complete and the deadline is March 15.

The DAR is passionate about educating America’s youth and supports a variety of different programs, contests, and awards to help further this goal. At its March meeting, Molly Ockett Chapter, NSDAR  will present the DAR Good Citizen Awards to local high school students.  For further information about DAR, membership in the DAR, and our programs, including the Helen Pouch Memorial Fund Classroom Grant, contact us at lakeregiondar@gmail.com.
