PARIS — The Paris Parks & Recreation Department has announced its latest special event. They are partnering with Heartsong Kennels of Paris to offer Oxford Hills residents of all ages exciting 15-20 minute Dog Sled Rides through the beautiful woods! Experience the wondrous joy of riding behind 6 trained huskies that love to run, with experienced, friendly Mushers! Saturday, February 24; Rides will be held from 10:00 am-2:00 pm.

Start this special day with a meet & greet & photo ops with friendly dogs, then bundle up for a fantastic dog sled ride! Perfect for a unique Valentine’s Day gift or memorable birthday present.

Lynda Knowlton has been a dog trainer for 46 years. She is the co-owner of HeartSong Kennel in Paris, which raises dogs for pets, Service Dogs, and Personal Protection dogs. An Army Military Police vet, Lynda taught Law Enforcement at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School for 23 years and now works with dogs as a trainer and behaviorist.

HeartSong is a competitive sled dog racing kennel and Lynda has been involved in sprint racing for years. Her daughter, Kyla, is the kennel manager and lead trainer, an expert in Animal Science and Nutrition, and a competitor in mid-distance dog races. They’ve worked with Labrador Retrievers, German Shepards Alaskan huskies, and even horses. They provide sled dog rides, public dog training, and private dog behavior services one-on-one year-round. They’ll soon be offering Dog Training Classes for the Paris Parks & Rec. Dept as well.
