LEWISTON — Bates College came out of halftime on fire to pull away from Hamilton College and win Saturday’s NESCAC women’s basketball quarterfinal 66-50 at Alumni Gym.

The third-seeded Bobcats (21-4) advance to next Saturday’s semifinals of the New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship tournament at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, where they will face either No. 2 Trinity.

Bates led 29-25 at halftime, then outscored the sixth-seeded Continentals (17-8) by a 27-10 margin in the third quarter. The Bobcats shot 67% in the period, making 12 of 18 shots, while holding Hamilton to 2-for-13 shooting.

Morgan Kennedy scored a game-high 17 points for Bates, and Elsa Daulerio was right behind with 16 points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds. Sarah Hughes also finished in double figures, scoring 11 points.

Hamilton’s Kendall Harris matched Kennedy with 17 points.

CMCC 87, BERKELEY 45: Edward Little graduate Chantel Ouellette put together a double-double as the Mustangs (25-1) nearly doubled up the Knights (9-12) in Auburn.

Ouellette scored 11 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, Destiny Mora Lopez dropped in a team-high 14 points, and Zoe Bedford and Oxford Hills grad Molly Corbett each added 12 points for Central Maine Community College.

Rangeley grad Winnie Larochelle and Edward Little grad Aiwen Maiwen pitched in seven and four points, respectively.

Jordan Washington scored a game-high 18 points for Berkeley College.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
HUSSON 74, UMF 68, OT: Riles Neff drilled a key 3-pointer in the final minute of overtime and the top-seeded Eagles (22-5) made their free throws down the stretch to beat the second-seeded Beavers (18-9) and win the North Atlantic Conference East Division title in Bangor.

Husson advances to next Saturday’s NAC championship game against West Division champ SUNY Cobleskill in Cobleskill, New York.

Zachary Mickle, who tied for the team lead with 18 points for University of Maine Farmington, had a chance to win the game in regulation but his 3-point attempt with one second left missed the mark. Ethan Forrester also scored 18 for UMF and Brock Flagg had 12.

Eric Ahlers scored a game-high 22 points for Husson, Jeremy Moronta mustered 17 points and 14 rebounds and Neff finished with 16 points.
