BRIDGTON — On Feb. 29 from 5-7 p.m., the Rotary Club of Bridgton-Lake Region will host a speaker on the eclipse at the Magic Lantern on Depot Street in Bridgton.

Edward Herrick-Gleason, director of the Southworth Planetarium at SMU in Portland since 1999, will cover the basic of eclipses and keep the talk informative and geared to both youth and adults. He writes the Daily Astronomer blog and has been a contributor to Astronomy Magazine.

President John Eliassen remarked “We Rotarians from Bridgton-Lake Region Rotary Club are excited to offer this presentation for the solar eclipse which will happen on April 8th.  You must wear special glasses to view this spectacular event.

“We will have glasses for $2.00 on Thurs evening. The event will include fellowship at the Magic Lantern Pub as well as the presentation in the theatre.  Everyone is invited free of charge.”
