JAY — Get those sleds, snowboards and snowshoes ready for the winter Family Festival and Sled-In from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17, at the French Falls Park on French Falls Lane.
“Snow Mountain” is being created and shaped by the town’s public works crew with steps leading to the top.
There will be sliding on the mountain, sleigh and snowmobile rides provided by the Andy Valley Riders Snowmobile Club. The Snowshoe Snowman Scramble has cash prize.
The Fire Rescue Department will also be watching over a bonfire. There will be a warming tent, s’mores and hot chocolate, and a scavenger hunt along the trails at the park with prizes. A raffle and 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase.
There will be pizza, soup and drinks available to buy from a local restaurant.
Participants are asked to bring their sleds and snowshoes. A limited number of sleds and snowshoes will be available on site.
The Jay Recreation Committee sponsors the event with the help of donations. French Falls Lane is located beside Spruce Mountain Pharmacy, off state Route 4, also known as Main Street.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
