LIVERMORE FALLS — At the Sunday, Feb. 18, First Baptist Church of Livermore Falls service, Kay Watson is ifficiated. Maggie Houlihan played beautiful hymns on the organ as parishioners entered and found their seats. Kay opened the service and welcomed all who were present, and she read the announcements of upcoming meetings and events.

She lead us as we sang two Praise Songs: “come Into His Presence”, and “Great Is the Lord”. The call to worship will be read from Psalm 146, 1 – 5. We asked for prayers for families and friends who may be ill or need prayers for other reasons, and we shared joys that we have experienced in the last week, and finally we recited The Lord’s Prayer.

The first hymn we sang were, “What A Friend We Have In Jesus”. During tithes and offerings, Maggie and Margaret played “Farther Along”. The Worship Team provided special music as they sang, “The Steps of a Good Man”. Maggie Houlihan and Margaret Emery played keyboards.

Kay based her sermon on scriptures from the Book of Matthew, Chapter 4, Verses 1 – 11. Her sermon is titled, “Temptation”. The scripture tells the story of Jesus when the Devil tempted Jesus, trying to give him reasons to follow the Devil rather than God. Jesus refused as He wandered in the desert for forty days and nights without food.

In the church year, we call this period of time, “Lent”. The Service closed as we sang the Hymn, “We’ll Understand It Better By and By”, followed by the Benediction and our Parting Hymn, “Savior, Again to Thy Dear Name”.
