BETHEL — “We have had a really good season,” said Kristen Powell, Telstar Nordic Ski Team Coach. “We just completed our MVC championship, and we had five racers compete in that race. Junior, Ella Akers, placed 5th overall in the combined skate and classic competitions.
“Juniors, Kayan DeGruttola and Gabrielle Thompson skied hard and will be moving forward to the state meet next week. Freshmen, Reece Pierce and Davon DeGruttola experienced their first high school season this year moving from 3km races at the middle school level to 5 km races in high school.
“We had two additional team members who did not participate in the MVC competition but added to our team and practiced alongside the others throughout the season. We will be wrapping up our racing season next week on Monday and Tuesday with the State Meet at Titcomb Mountain. Our top five racers will be participating in the state meet: Ella Akers, Gabrielle Thompson, Kayan DeGruttola, Reece Pierce, and Davon DeGruttola.”
