DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m a volunteer with Rebuilding Together Lewiston/Auburn and we are looking for homes to renovate this year.

The nonprofit organization is supported entirely by contributions of time, labor, materials and money. We are dedicated to repairing the homes of those who, due to financial hardship, age and/or disability, cannot do the work themselves.

Skilled and unskilled volunteers alongside able-bodied members of the recipient’s family and friends complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner.

The work is conducted on one weekend a year. This year, Rebuilding Day is May 11.

Rebuilding Together Lewiston/Auburn will be accepting applications until March 31. Applications can be found on our website at: www.rebuildingtogetherla.org. You can also contact us at rebuildingtogetherla@gmail.com and request an application to be sent via mail.

Skilled and unskilled volunteers are also needed. If you would like to volunteer, please contact us through the email address above, or call 344-3232. — Russ, no town

ANSWER: I love that you’re still involved in this nonprofit and look forward to this announcement each spring. It also makes me glad that through Sun Spots, you are getting applications and finding just the right folks to help, and to receive.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: In a column a few months back, you had the name of a person who repaired Bose Wave radios. I put the information in such a safe place that I can’t find it. Now my friend and I both need it. Your help in finding the name and number would be greatly appreciated.

Also, your help and knowledge in answering all these questions is outstanding.  I never miss a column. — No name, Auburn

ANSWER: I was able to find it quickly from the Sept. 8 Sun Spots. Sun Spotter Sue from Auburn wrote to recommend Kyle Stilkey, who, she said, repairs just about any electronic device. Kyle works from his home in Sabattus and she found him to be professional and knowledgeable. His phone number is 619-0776.

People like Kyle are better than gold if you ask me, they are willing to share these nearly extinct skills and help the rest of us. Thanks to Sue for recommending him!

This column is for you, our readers. It is for your questions and comments. There are only two rules: You must write to the column and sign your name. We won’t use it if you ask us not to. Please include your phone number. Letters will not be returned or answered by mail, and telephone calls will not be accepted. Your letters will appear as quickly as space allows. Address them to Sun Spots, P.O. Box 4400, Lewiston, ME 04243-4400. Inquiries can also be emailed to sunspots@sunjournal.com.
