Dorothea S. Smith

AUBURN – Dorothea S. Smith, 87, of Field Avenue, Auburn, died Wednesday Feb. 6, 2024, at Androscoggin Hospice House after a brief stay, with her family at her side.

She was born in Lewiston on July 6, 1936, a daughter of the late Murray and Orissa (Goodwin) Spiller. She was educated in local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School class of 1954 and Auburn Maine School of Commerce.

Dot married her true love James Smith on May 16, 1958. Together they settled on Field Avenue and started to raise their family. She worked as a receptionist and bookkeeper at Auburn Housing and Clover Manor. She enjoyed golfing with family and friends, knitting, following the Red Sox and Church Activities.

She is survived by her three children, Ronald Smith and his wife Ann Marie of Greene, Pamela Gallant and her husband Jeffrey of Poland and Lori Smith and her companion Gary Currier of Minot; five grandchildren, Michelle, Laura, Joseph and wife Jessica, Adam and wife Sarah and Callie; and three great grandchildren: Madelynn, Natalie, and Wyatt. She was predeceased by husband James Smith and brother Harlan Spiller.

A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
