AUBURN — State Rep. Adam Lee is seeking a second term serving the residents of the 89th House District in Auburn.
Lee, a lawyer first elected in 2022, is the only Democrat to have filed paperwork with the Maine Ethics Commission indicating an intention to run in the district.

Three Republicans are vying to unseat him in the Democratic-leaning district: John Janelle, Michelle Tucker and Paul Witten. A primary in June will determine who will hold the Republican line in the Nov. 5 general election.
Lee is an attorney with the firm of Trafton, Matzen, Belleau & Frenette. He serves on the Judiciary Committee in the Legislature.
Lee said in a news release announcing his intention to seek reelection that he passed two bills in his first year in the Legislature with significant bipartisan support.
One ensures that survivors of workplace harassment and assault can hold their harasser or assailant responsible for their actions while the other seeks to protect the safety of pedestrians, an issue he championed during two terms on the Auburn City Council.
The pedestrian safety measure he pushed in Augusta requires that state Department of Transportation projects are constructed with pedestrian, bicycle, and all forms of transportation in mind.
In addition to his service in the Legislature and his law practice, Lee coaches the Boston College Debate team and volunteers his time at the PAL Center and as the primary instructor to the Maine State Prison Debate Team. Lee is married to Heidi McCarthy.
Lee earned a bachelor’s degree in history at the University of Texas in Austin and a law degree from the University of Vermont Law School.
District 89 is comprised of downtown Auburn, New Auburn, the Hampshire Street neighborhood, and Goff Hill up to Edward Little High School.
