SOUTH PARIS — The McLaughlin Garden 2024 lecture series is set for each Wednesday afternoon in March.

Topics were chosen to appeal to gardeners and to those interested in nature. The presentations will be hybrid, in-person attendees can have tea at 3:30 p.m. before the 4 p.m. lectures upstairs at the McLaughlin Garden, 97 Main St.

The opening lecture on March 6 by Brian and Suzanne Dunham, owners of Velvet Hollow Sugar Works in Greenwood, will be “Bird Friendly Maple.” On March 13, Michelle Cloutier, owner of Squash Pie Blossom in Norway, will present “The Miracle of Seeds: A Flower Gardener’s Journey.”

Gregory Leclair’s March 20 lecture will be “Maine Big Night: From a Salamander to a Statewide Movement.” He is a Ph.D student in ecology and environmental science and founder and coordinator of Maine Big Night. The final lecture, March 27, will be “Gardening in Troughs and the Plants that Thrive in Them” by Marianne Dodge of the St. Mary’s Garden Club.

Donations are requested for the McLaughlin Garden. Advance registration is not necessary for in-person attendees.
