Helen (Clark) Whitcomb

CUMBERLAND – Helen (Clark) Whitcomb, 91, of Brunswick, died Saturday Feb. 24, 2024 in her daughter Deborah’s home in Cumberland.

She was born at City Hospital in Bath on June 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Leroy J. Clark and Leslie E. Pierce.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Jackie H. Clark, Sr. and Harold K. Whitcomb, her second husband of 31 wonderful years.

She lived in Brunswick and moved to Cumberland in September of 2023.

Helen worked for Cabot (Auerback Shoe Co.) in Brunswick for three years, Eastland Shoe of Freeport for six years and L.L.Bean, Freeport, for 13 years. She later opened a children’s daycare with her late husband in Winthrop for six years.

Helen will be remembered for her eclectic smile and down to earth friendly personality. She enjoyed going to church and being with her church family along with reading her Bible daily. She loved her companion “big red dog” golden retriever, Bear.

She loved all of her children. She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Weed and her husband C. Elliott of Cumberland and Vickie Malloy and her husband Leo of Brunswick, her sons Jackie H. Clark, Jr. and his wife Joyce of South Carolina, Garry Clark of Brunswick and adopted son, Rudy Bourgeois of Louisiana. She also leaves behind her beloved 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of her life will be held at the Maine Street Baptist Church of Brunswick with Pastor Mike Bolos officiating, at 326 Maine St., Brunswick on March 23, at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park in Auburn at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Albert and Burpee Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 253 Pine St., Lewiston, 782-7201.
