AUBURN — More than a dozen states, including Maine, are set to hold presidential primaries Tuesday.

In Lewiston, all voting is planned for the gymnasium at the Longley School, 145 Birch St. City officials said it will be laid out and run like the December runoff election.

The polls in Lewiston are scheduled to open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

In Auburn, Wards 1 and 2 vote at the Auburn Senior Community Center, 48 Pettengill Park Road.

Wards 3 and 4 vote at Auburn Hall, 60 Court St.

Ward 5 votes at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine Auburn/Lewiston, 43 Second St.

The polls in Auburn are scheduled to open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Maine is transitioning this year from a closed primary system to a semi-open primary. Unenrolled voters will be able to participate in primaries. Voters enrolled in a party may only vote in that party’s primary.

Only the Democratic and Republican parties will hold primaries for the March 5 election. The Green Independent, Libertarian and No Labels parties have chosen not to hold primaries, and voters enrolled in one of those parties may not participate in the primary.

Enrolled voters do not have the option to select another party’s ballot unless they unenrolled or changed enrollment on or before Feb. 16. A voter must remain in a party for three months before changing parties or unenrolling.
