DEAR SUNSPOTS: I’m writing regarding Joan’s question about balancing her checkbook (Feb. 27 Sun Spots). SeniorsPlus has a Money Minders program available to older adults.

 This is a free, confidential service that utilizes the talents of our volunteers to help seniors figure out a budget, write checks to pay bills (but not signing the checks), and balancing a checkbook. I started looking for both here, and so far, I have not found any quilt shops nearby. However, I have found a great place to have my sewing machine serviced and repaired.“Carolann’s Sewing Machine Repair is at 662 Brighton Hill Road in Minot (312-1424).

The technicians are knowledgeable about all brands of sewing machines. I got my machine back in two weeks as promised. The customer service was above and beyond the norm. If you have a sewing machine that needs a good cleaning, repair or any service at all, don’t hesitate to call and make an appointment. They also sharpen scissors. — Jacqueline, Lewiston
