Kristy McNaughton, an instructor at Gardiner Area High School, will be one of the featured presenters at the Seventh annual “S-T-R-E-T-C-H your Teaching” workshop.

The event is set for 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at the United Technologies Center at 200 Hogan Road in Bangor. McNaughton will offer a session, “Feel Good Flow — If You Can Walk, You Can Dance.”

Jessica Anderson of “Count ME In” will be the keynote speaker. Anderson’s presentation is “Attendance Matters,” during which she will address the challenges around student attendance and strategies to combat them, according to a news release from Priscilla McFarland, president of Maine State Organization DKG International.

Educators from all parts of Maine are invited to attend this workshop, which is sponsored by Maine State Organization of DKG International, an organization dedicated to providing professional development and personal growth for educators.

In addition to the topic of student attendance, workshop coordinators offer 11 break-out sessions from which participants may choose during the workshop.

The overarching goal is to help teachers stretch their thinking by learning new strategies to help students be more successful. In addition to McNaughton’s session, experts in their fields will present on the following topics: family communication, community relationships, positive behavior management, early literacy/the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, art/history collaboration, school gardens, Artificial Intelligence, extended learning opportunities, STEM projects, and book banning.

The registration fee of $45 includes snacks, lunch and door prizes. College students can attend for only $15. Registrations are due by Friday, March 22, for those who would like lunch.

The registration packet may be found at Maine State Organization of DKG International on the web, under the PD Opportunities tab at dkgmaine.weebly.com. One also may request the registration form and session descriptions at pmcfarland1227@gmail.com.
