AREA — The Education/Workforce Committee of the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce presents:
‘Supporting Mental Health in the Workplace’ on Thursday, March 7, from 7:30 – 9 a.m. at the Ripley Medical Office Building, located at 193 Main Street, Norway
The cost is $10 for Chamber Members and $15 for Non-Members. This workshop includes a breakfast buffet.
Fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment can present challenges, especially in today’s climate. Recognizing the importance of mental health and its impact on employee productivity is critical for leaders in any company, and with the increase in current life stressors, it cannot be overlooked or set aside.
Some key topics related to mental health in the workplace that will be covered:
· Creating a culture of safety and wellness, including a stigma-free culture
· Recognizing signs of stress and burnout
· Implementing stress management techniques
· Providing resources for mental health support
· Encouraging work-life balance
· Policy development
· Managerial training
Guest Speakers Include:

Susan Hanley
Director of Human Resources, Community Concepts
Susan has a 30+ year history working for Community Action Agencies. Since coming to Community Concepts in 1999, she has served in a variety of capacities before becoming Director of Human Resources in 2009.
Sue holds an associate’s degree in early childhood education from Champlain College in Burlington, VT, and has an HR certificate from the University of Southern Maine. She has completed numerous HR and leadership programs, including the Androscoggin Leadership Development Institute. Sue provides guidance to senior leadership with employee relations and oversees the agency’s safety, wellness, and benefits committees.

Ashley Herrick
Recruitment and Training Manager, Community Concepts
Ashley has worked in non-profit work for almost 20 years, with 17 of those being at Community Concepts. Her career started in a classroom and branched out to a senior leadership and management role over the years. Currently, she works in Human Resources as the Recruitment and Training Manager, supporting new hires, onboarding, and ongoing training throughout the agency.
She obtained a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from UMF and a master’s degree in early childhood education from Capella University. In addition to her role at CCI, she is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at Central Maine Community College and a state-approved trainer with Maine Roads to Quality out of USM.
