PARIS — The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills celebrated Rotary International’s Vocational Service during January and February with speakers highlighting various professions in Oxford County. On January 24, Dan Hart spoke to the Club about his new role as University Student Teacher Supervisor in the College of Education & Human Development at the University of Maine – Farmington. As the largest teacher education program in Maine, the College of Education & Human Development leads through teaching, research, service, and innovation, preparing future Maine teachers for the excitement and challenges of the profession of education and teaching. Dan explained his role in overseeing and supporting this important training program.

On February 28, Chris Miller, Co-Founder and Operator of RideSource spoke to the Club about his role in overseeing this growing business. RideSource, a transportation company based right here in Oxford County, provides non-emergency transportation to medical care, non-profit organizations, and certain schools. RideSource is well-positioned to assist those in our community with transportation needs. With 70+ employees, over 50 vehicles, and 2 million miles traveled each year, RideSource is quickly making its mark as an important community asset. Chris explained his role in running this business day-to-day.

Rotary International celebrates the vocations of its members during Vocational Service Month at the beginning of each year. Vocational service is at the heart of Rotary, which was founded on the classification system of membership. Business and professional life are the bedrock of Rotary, and vocational service is a major force in promoting honor, integrity, and trustworthiness in business.
