FARMINGTON — The Fire and Ice Festival will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9, with some changes due to unusual weather this year.

The festival on Front Street offers a wide variety of activities for families to enjoy.

Sledding, tubing, sleigh and dog sled rides had to be deleted this year, John Moore, owner of Narrow Gauge Cinemas texted Tuesday, March 5. “Just not enough snow,” he noted.

While the sleigh rides won’t happen, an alternative has been arranged for those who enjoy the horse-drawn wagon rides. For years Kenric Charles of Kingfield has provided the rides, which are popular. Typically there are long lines of people waiting their turn.

“Seavey Farm [North Anson] was doing the sleigh rides and instead are bringing a wagon for the extra demand,” Moore noted.

Cookie decorating and a hay maze will entertain as will juggling and puppet shows. There will be free showings of Migration and Wonka plus a scavenger hunt. Also planned are an ice carving demonstration and balloon animals.
