Since 2000, the Maine Children’s Scholarship Fund has been awarding scholarships to families who meet its income guidelines. The scholarships are for students in kindergarten through 12th grade for tuition for public or private school, or toward homeschooling expenses.

The scholarship pays 75% of tuition up to $1,400 for private school or $500 toward homeschooling expenses. Scholarships are awarded to families whose income is within the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program income guidelines, according to a news release from Christine Picard with the scholarship fund.

The fund is offering a hybrid scholarship in addition to the homeschool and private school scholarship. The hybrid scholarship is for students not in traditional public/private school or homeschool. The hybrid scholarship helps with the cost of tuition for students who are accepted to online academy’s.

MCSF will cover 65% of tuition up to $900.

Applications may be completed at mecsf.org.

The application deadline is Tuesday, April 30; scholarships will be awarded by random drawing in May.
