100 Years Ago: 1924
The Easter fashion parade will find the American women straighter and more slender than ever before, according to predictions at the annual Fashion Art League of America. The effect of extreme slimness will be sought, it is said.
Shorter skirts, flashier clothes and addition of a scarf, a cape and a monogram to each outfit are among the fashions predicted.
50 Years Ago: 1974
Mrs. Mark J. Ferguson of Lewiston will serve as commentator for the fashion show to be held in conjunction with a card party at the Knights of Columbus clubhouse, 150 East Avenue Wednesday at seven o’clock.
Several members of the sponsoring organization, Credit Women International, will model Spring and Summer fashions furnished by Benoit’s.
The models are Lennie Butler, Rachel Guimond, Eleanor Truitt, Diane St. Clair, Ann Carpentier, Terry Samson, Vivian Proulx, Diane Cote and Ann Gosselin.
Proceeds will benefit the group’s scholarship fund.
25 Years Ago:1999
The Androscoggin County Teachers Association is meeting Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 pm at the High Street Congregational Church.
Mrs. Margaret Cody of the Auburn Public Library staff will be introduced at that time and will present a review of one of the popular new books. A meeting will follow.
Members from the Lisbon area will serve as hostesses for the social hour which is to conclude the afternoon.
