NEWRY — The ninth annual New England Mineral Conference is set for Friday through Sunday, May 17-19, at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel and Conference Center at Sunday River, 15 South Ridge Road.

Presentations on both New England and non-New England topics are scheduled on Friday evening and during the day on Saturday, according to a news release from Jan Morrison, executive director, New England Mineral Association.

In addition, there is a Friday afternoon technical session, an option to visit the Maine Mineral & Gem Museum at a reduced NEMC rate, a Friday evening banquet with the MMGM’s Heritage Award Ceremony, mineral displays and exhibits, and both live and silent auctions in support of the conference. Dealers can be visited by registrants from Friday through Saturday evening (except during the talks). The weekend culminates with optional collecting field trips and/or a museum visit on Sunday.

Registration is active through Friday, May 3, at nemineral.org.

In lieu of the association’s historical Education Day on Friday, it will again have expanded kid’s activities at its Mineral Tailgate Sales, benefiting NEMA’s programs, to be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 8 and Sept. 14 at the Havey Quarry.
