Maurice H. Rioux

SACO – Maurice H. Rioux, 87, formerly of Sabattus, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2024, at the Seal Rock Healthcare Facility in Saco. He was born in Lewiston on Jan. 27, 1937, the son of Willie and Antoinette (Roux) Rioux. He was educated in Lewiston schools, a graduate of Lewiston High School. 

He married the former Diana “Paulette” Cloutier on Nov. 25, 1965. Mrs. Rioux passed away in 1976 from breast cancer, and he dedicated his life to raising their four young children. 

A decorated real estate agent for more than thirty years, he also held a leadership position as a store manager for Sampson Supermarkets.

In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, particularly on Sebago Lake. He was a big sports fan and faithfully followed his favorite Boston teams: the Bruins, the Red Sox, and the Patriots.

A catholic, Maurice attended Our Lady of the Rosary Church.

He is survived by his three sons, James Rioux and his wife Lori Van Hout of Longmont, Colo., Timothy Rioux and his wife Laurie of Wake Forest, N.C., and Jeffrey Rioux of Kennebunk, his daughter Jennifer Rioux and her husband Peter Austin of Ringoes, N.J., and his sister Irene Martin of Auburn. Maurice also leaves behind five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, March 16, 2024, from 9-10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Ss. Peter and Paul Basilica, upper church. Committal prayers will follow in the large chapel of the Mausoleum at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
