When Clover Health Care celebrates its 25 anniversary this year, a few of the people marking the milestone will be residents who have been part of this community since its earliest years.

“We have a few residents in their early 60s, but the average age here is mid-80s. More and more, we have a lot of people in their 90s,” said Donna Rousseau, public relations director for Clover.

Clover’s facility is widely recognized as Maine’ s first true continuing care community, offering nine levels of care for elderly adults. In addition it has fostered intergenerational relationships between the old and young by housing a 24-child preschool center on site.

“Clover was the very first facility in Maine to introduce the full continuum-care-concept. It has been a flagship for many of the facilities in Maine and New England that have been built on this concept,” Rousseau said.
