PARIS — The Town of Paris Parks & Recreation Dept is now taking registrations for a 4-week Basic Obedience Dog Training class covering all of the basic commands, and introducing the dog/human connection where the dog learns skills and the human learns how to teach them. Subjects cover basic behavior such as; barking, jumping, kennel training, and skills such as; ‘Sit, Down, Stay, Wait, and Leave it.’ Classes will be held on Thursday nights March 28, April 4, 11, and Wed. April 17 from 5-6 p.m.

Another Dog Training class will be a fun ‘Trick’ class offered on two different Saturdays for dog owners and their pets. Instructor Lynda will teach 2-3 tricks per class. This is a fun family class where kids ages 5 and older are encouraged to join the group and work with their own dogs. Saturday 10-11 a.m. March 23 or April 20. Fee: $35 per dog, per class. The fee must be paid in advance and specify the Saturday date you wish to attend. Space is limited.

The instructor, Lynda Knowlton, has been a dog trainer for 46 years. She is the co-owner of HeartSong Kennel in Paris, which raises dogs for pets, Service dogs, and Personal Protection dogs. An Army Military Police vet, Lynda taught Law Enforcement at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School for 23 years and now works with dogs as a trainer and behaviorist.
