Simone M. (Castonguay) Blouin

LIVERMORE FALLS – Simone M. (Castonguay) Blouin, 73, of Livermore Falls, was reunited with her family on Saturday, March 9, 2024, on the 25th anniversary of the death of her child “Little Larry” and also joined her husband, Larry Sr.

She was born on her family farm on Nov. 24, 1950, the daughter of Alfred and Odolie (Brochu) Castonguay. She graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1970. She was employed by International Paper. On August 26, 1972, she married Larry Blouin, Sr. and they were a team. On Sept. 19, 1973, they had their son, Litle Larry, who was their world until he passed in 1999.

Simone loved the outdoors; you often saw her working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved her flower gardens and took great pride in landscaping her home. When she wasn’t outside working, she was inside cooking. She loved teaching Emily and Ryleigh her way around the kitchen. Every year they would make cookies and candies and learn Simone’s secret family recipes. She hosted a family breakfast every Sunday for many years, which often included friends.

Simone was a ray of sunshine with a positive attitude that everyone loved to be around. She was always concerned for others first, up to her final hours. On Thursdays she would gather with her friends Kathy, Marie, Gail, Sue Ann, and Fern to play cards.

She loved to spend her free time volunteering at the Am Vets, VFW, American Legion and the “People Who Care” Food Cupboards in Somerset County. Simone made and donated wreaths for local fundraisers, and was a generous supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital, as well the Gorham Fire Department in memory of her son.

Simone was predeceased by her husband Larry Blouin, Sr.; her son Larry Blouin, Jr.; her parents; brothers Gerard, Richard, Robert, and David Castonguay, and her sister Noella DeSantis.

She is survived by her godson Adam Castonguay and wife Katie; her honorary granddaughters Emily and Ryleigh Castonguay; brother Jean Castonguay and wife Susan of Livermore Falls, sister Marie Simoneau and husband Emilie of Chesterville, sister Alice Legere and husband Phillip of Tennessee; nephew Howard Castonguay of Portland, niece Denise (Lahey) Leath of Tennessee, Shannon (Blouin) Drury of Madison; and friends Kathleen Buckingham and Gail Kennedy.

There will be no services for Simone. She will be laid to rest in the spring.
