100 Years Ago: 1924

Besides a very pleasant  social evening at a recent dancing party at Mrs. Heth’s Studio, the Lewiston Auburn BPW club made over $20.

50 Years Ago: 1974

(from a Sun Journal photo) Lewiston’s Comprehensive High School Band, The Bandsmen from Edward Little High School and Brunswick High School presented an unusually fine concert at Lewiston Comprehensive High School Thursday night. Out of costume, but with their instruments, are Lewiston’s, Herman Bansmer II with the handsome tuba, and Paul O’Brien with the bass sax. Both instruments are new this year and are a great addition to the band.

25 Years Ago: 1999

The Auburn Mini Mite Cheerleaders, with support from their parents, traveled to Dover, N.H. to compete in a tri-state invitational competition on Feb. 21.

The team of eight  5 and 6-year-olds performed a three minute routine choreographed to “Elmo-Hot, Hot, Hot” and some other songs. The team brought home a second-place trophy, along with the sportsmanship and spirit trophies.

Auburn Mini Mites is the learn-to-cheer program, with the Auburn Youth Hockey Cheerleading Program. The team is coached by Kristen Dostie, assisted by Tory Hewison.

The Mini Mites competed in the Auburn Youth Hockey Cheering Spirit Rally on March 6. Once again the team was awarded second place and Spirit Award trophies.
