Auburn Public Library is set to host a talk about the Androscoggin Valley Soil & Water Conservation District’s new Conservation Landscape Certification program.

The talk will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 25, in the Androscoggin Community Room at 49 Spring St.

This free program is designed to help landowners improve their properties for wildlife, water quality, soil health, ecosystem support and to be more climate resilient. In line with the program’s focus, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Private Lands Wildlife Biologist Joseph Roy will speak. He will discuss ways to improve one’s property for wildlife, including the value of standing dead trees, woody debris, and the importance of pollinators, according to a news release from the library.

AVSWCD Project Director Emma Lorusso will introduce the district’s new program and touch on ways for people to get signed up and improve their lands for all the creatures that live in the local ecosystem.

This program, for adults, is the first of two presented by AVSWCD; the second, Climate Resilient Gardens & Backyard, will take place at 5 p.m. on Earth Day, Monday, April 22.
