We had guesses from numerous people who live and visit Bethel who easily recognized last week’s Mystery Photo of the carved bear in front of The Philbrook Place in downtown Bethel. The historic house at 162 Main St. was built in 1878-79 by a local businessman and is one of the most elaborate Italianate residences in the community. It currently houses a collection of small businesses offering toys, clothing, sporting goods, Maine-made arts, crafts, and books. In a random drawing from the correct entries, Bob Daigle of Mexico was picked as the winner of a $25 Hannaford Supermarket gift card.
