LISBON — A man was found dead Wednesday morning in the Androscoggin River, and police are trying to determine who he is and how he got there.

Lisbon police said they responded at about 10 a.m. to the Eagle Creek Renewable Energy Dam, at 31 Canal St., where a body of a man was discovered.

The body was recovered by the Lisbon and Durham fire departments, with the assistance of the Maine Marine Patrol. It was brought to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta where an autopsy will be performed.

Maine State Police is assisting the Lisbon Police Department in the investigation.

Police said there did not appear to be any threat to the public.
