Nina Daphne Proctor

WELD – Nina Daphne Proctor, 90, of Weld, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024. She was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Weld to Thermal and Katherine (Swett) Conant.

Mom was a lifelong resident of the town of Weld. She was born at her parent’s home on School Street and died at her home on Temple Road. Mom loved her hometown and spent most of her life making the town more beautiful and admiring Weld’s natural beauty.

On Aug. 28, 1948, Daphne married Alton Ardene Proctor in Farmington and they made their home in Weld. Together they raised four sons and were married for 73 years. Daphne was kindhearted and loving to her family and countless friends.

She had a very full and busy life tending to her flowers and greenhouse, but always gave what time she could to go to her “meetings”. She was very active in many town organizations as well as the Weld Congregational Church. Daphne was also the other half of the creation of Proctor’s Gardens.

Daphne is survived by her sons Dalton and his wife, Cindi, Danny and his wife, Carol, Donny and his wife, Cindy, and Daryl, all of Weld; a brother, Henry Coval and his wife, Sonya, of Weld; many loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was very proud of her large family.

Daphne was preceded in death by her husband.

In one of the last conversations she had with Dean, she told him “We will be together again soon, and we can walk around our gardens again”. This conversation took place just two years and 26 days ago. It brings us comfort to think of them being together again in the gardens they loved so much.

A celebration of life will be held at the Weld Congregational Church in the spring.

Memories may be shared in her Book of Memories at http://www.wilesrc.com. Honored to be caring for the family of Nina Daphne Proctor is Wiles Remembrance Center of Farmington.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
