Frank E. Ford

AUBURN – Frank E. Ford, 90, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday March 30, 2024, at the Clover Manor Health Care.

He was born Aug. 14, 1933, in Minot, a son of John and Clara (Leach) Ford. He attended the West Minot and Mechanic Falls school systems.

He joined the United States Navy in 1951. He served during the Korean War and had an honorable discharge in 1954.

He married the love of his life, Francoise Leclerc, on June 11, 1955, and they celebrated 68 years of marriage. During this time they raised six children and resided for 57 years on Spring Street in Mechanic Falls. They also raised their granddaughter, Carrie.

He loved to go hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and during the summer he enjoyed mowing his golf course quality lawns. He was the happiest when he was spending time with his loving wife and family.

Frank worked for the Biddeford-Saco Water Company, the Union Water Company, and was a maintenance man for Bates College until retirement in 1995.

He was predeceased by his parents; seven siblings; and a son-in-law.

He is survived by his loving wife, Francoise Ford; his children Peter (Carol) J. Ford, Sr., Patricia (Gary) Barnes, Russell Ford, Arlene Pierce (Ron), Brenda (Wayde) Boston and Cynthia Ford (Bill); his grandchildren, Carrie Ford, Jennifer Mundell, Christina Lavoie, Matthew Boston, Melissa Ford, Meghan Phillips, Peter J. Ford, Jr., and Kacie-Rae Ford; 11 great-grandchildren; his siblings Esther Hanscome, Henry Ford, Johnny Ford; and many nieces and nephews.

The Ford family would like to thank Clover Health Care for the services provided to Frank during the last months of his life. Frank will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

The family will hold a visitation on Saturday April 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Chandler Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 26 W. Dwinal St., Mechanic Falls with a service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Mike Ring. Burial will take place in the spring with military honors at Riverside Cemetery in West Minot.
