DEAR SUN SPOTS: The First Congregational Church of Andover will hosting the Annual Birthday Supper on Saturday, April 27, at 5 p.m. The menu includes ham with pineapple sauce, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, and birthday cakes. Donations are accepted.

For over 65 years, this event has been a tradition for all the church ladies. There is a decorated table and suitable cake for each month, with four extra tables, one for each season. — Trudy, Andover

ANSWER: This letter ran in the April 8 Sun Spots and there was an error. The celebration has been going on for over 65 years. The event is open to all ages, not just those over 65. I want to be sure everyone is clear on that!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: My husband was an Air Force veteran. He was disabled, secondary to having MS. Unfortunately, he passed away about four years ago. I have his hospital bed that I would like to donate to someone in need. I’m hoping to give it to another veteran, but I’m not limited to that. We could possibly deliver it. Please call 779-4242, if you’re interested. — No name, no town

ANSWER: Let me know if you don’t get contacted by another reader and I’ll help you find a good home for this bed. Thank you for your willingness to help another veteran and/or Sun Spotter — sending you a big hug.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m researching someone who died in Florida in 1974 and was born in Lewiston in 1915. He’s the father of a patient of mine who is trying to learn about her history.

Would the Sun Journal have an obituary for him? As an adult he lived in the Akron, Ohio, area before relocating to Florida in about 1960.

Any suggestions regarding how to find out about him are appreciated. — Richard, no town

ANSWER: Here is the link for our obituary archive: https://www.sunjournal.com/obituaries/. However, start your research within the town/county where he died.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’ve been reading the bread pudding recipes and haven’t seen our favorite so I’d like to share it with your readers. I often cook without measuring so I may add more bread or dates than the recipe states.

I hope you enjoy my Tropical Bread Pudding! Happy cooking.

Tropical Bread Pudding: Scald 1 quart milk in a saucepan then add 2 cups torn white or wheat bread and 1/2 cup margarine to the milk.

In a casserole dish, combine 2 beaten eggs, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Stir in milk mixture and combine thoroughly.

Stir in 1 cup chopped dates (I use Dole brand) and sprinkle generously with shredded coconut.

Place casserole dish in a larger pan of hot water and bake at 350 degrees until knife inserted in the center comes out clean, for about one hour. — Becky, Fayette

ANSWER: This sounds delicious! Sun Spots now has enough bread pudding recipes to put up a party!
