Five of Woodlands Senior Living’s 10 locations, including on in Farmington, have been accredited by the Joint Commission, with five additional locations expected to receive the distinction in the coming weeks.

Woodlands Senior Living’s assisted living facilities are the first in the state to receive this designation, which is essentially a premier status for assisted living. Woodlands Senior Living of Farmington was the first to receive confirmation of accreditation.

“In order to be licensed as a residential care community in Maine by DHHS, there are certain criteria which must be met,” said Matthew Walters, managing member of Woodlands Senior Living, in a news release. “To earn accreditation by the Joint Commission, however, we must go well above and beyond in all areas. This designation is recognized as a benchmark of excellence for a reason. It can help residents and family members have peace of mind that Woodlands Senior Living is providing the highest quality of attention and care at every one of our locations throughout Maine.”

In addition to Farmington, Woodlands Senior Living locations in Hallowell, Waterville, Madison, and Hillside Terrace of Hallowell have all been accredited.
