REVERE, Mass. — The University of Maine at Farmington softball team earned two wins at the expense of Lesley University on Saturday.

The Beavers (9-5, 2-0) opened the doubleheader with a 5-3 victory, then shelled the Lynx in the second game 21-8 in five innings.

Christa Allen led UMF in with two RBIs in the the first game, and seven Beavers recorded a hit. Mack Bergen (4-0) pitched four innings and struck out two batters.

Lauren Martin led the Lynx with two runs batted in.

The Beavers put the second game away early by plating 15 runs in the second inning.

Four UMF players — Abby Wrinn, Jojo Daigneault, Maddie Pike and Bella Miller — drove in three runs, and Jessica Dow drove home two.

Sydney Cole led Lesley (3-14, 0-4) with three RBIs.

Rita Benoit (2-1) pitched all five innings for the Beavers.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE
AMHERST 16, BATES 13:
Bridget Finley’s eight goals led the Mammoths (6-5 overall, 3-4 NESCAC) over the Bobcats (5-7 , 1-6) in Lewiston.

Clara Sosa added five goals in the win, while Sofia Guttmann contributed two goals and three assists. Mia Raven also scored for Amherst.

Hanna Matthews paced Bates with five tallies, and Lauren Wong had a hat trick. Emma Austin and Caroline Taggart each chipped in two goals, and Laci Raveis scored one.

Mammoths goalies Jessye Salmon and Caroline Stole combined to stop 13 shots. Avery Lehman and Abigail Ziehl combined to make six saves for the Bobcats.

MEN’S LACROSSE
AMHERST 18, BATES 9:
Bob Gross paced the Mammoths (8-3 overall, 5-2 NESCAC) with six goals in a win over the Bobcats (3-10, 0-9) in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Alex Giacobbe found the back of the net three times for Amherst, while Brendan Riley and Matthew Sheinburg potted two goals apiece. Jake Bennett added one goal and assisted on five. Mammoths goalies Brooks Catlin and Mitch Likins combined to stop 15 shots.

TJ Underhill, Will Masterson and Gray Doyle each scored two goals for Bates. Aidan Cunningham, Javi Werner and Luke Breen also scored in the loss.

Andrew Toland, Drew Nyhus, Luke Heafey and Spencer Wood saw time in goal for Bates. The group stopped 15 shots.

COLLEGE BASEBALL
LESLEY SWEEPS UMF: The Lynx (10-11) swept the Beavers (4-13) at Minuteman High School in Lexington, Massachusetts, with a 3-0 two-inning victory in the opener and a 16-3 win in the second game.

The first game was shortened due to rain. James Brandon hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first. Dylan Langston only allowed two hits to pick up the win.

Ky Morris allowed the homer and took the loss for UMF.

In the second game, the Lynx’s 16-run output was highlighted by four runs in the fourth, three in the seventh and four in the eighth.

UMF scored twice in the sixth and once in the eighth.
