NORWAY — Someone once said paddling a Dragon Boat is like dancing on the water.

Join Sherri Otterson, founder of the Maine Dragon Boat Club, and club participants for an informational program on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 6:30-8:00 pm, at Norway Memorial Library. Sherri will cover a brief history of the club, share an overview of its upcoming second season, show videos and photographs, and demonstrate paddling. She will tell why Norway Lake is home to Maine’s first Dragon Boat.

Dragon Boating is a team sport consisting of a drummer, a steersperson, and 20 paddlers who work together in unison to move the boat forward quickly and smoothly. It is low cost, easy to start, increases overall fitness, improves mental health, and is open to all ages and abilities. Participation is free for the Oxford Hills community and surrounding towns.

Visit the club website at https://www.mainedragonboatclub.org/ and find them on Facebook. Find Norway Memorial Library at 258 Main Street, Norway, Maine. Call 207-743-5309 for more information or visit www.norwaymemoriallibrary.org.
