An outstanding event which marked Augusta’s social circle the end of the lenten season was a delightful tea given on Saturday afternoon by Mrs. William H. Fisher at her home on Winthrop Street in honor of Princess Santa Borghese of Italy and Mrs. Augustus O. Thomas of this city.

The spacious rooms of the Fisher residence were beautifully decorated with seasonal flowers which formed a most attractive background for the colorful gowns of the guests.

In the receiving line were Princess Borghese, Mrs. Thomas, who is entertaining the princess during her visit in  Augusta and the hostess, Mrs. Fisher.

The program for the Armed Forces Day to be held at 10 am Saturday, May 15, in Kennedy Park is starting to take place. Several individuals met in the park to choose their area for displays and ceremonies, including the Lewiston High School Enforcement Cadets, who have volunteered their help.

Five out of eight invited politicians have responded, although two will not be able to attend due to previous commitments.

Commanders of the military units have also been invited to attend and take the salute during the pass-in-review ceremony.

A band is needed to play marches for the review and present a concert. Any school, military or community band and color guards  interested should call Bert Dutil, event chairman.

The material used in Looking Back is produced exactly as it originally appeared although misspellings and errors may be corrected.
