Lisbon Falls Scout earns Eagle rank

Lisbon Falls Scout Greggory Hauger, 15, was recognized in a ceremony April 6 at Holy Trinity Church for attaining the highest rank in Scouts, that of Eagle Scout.

Fewer than 7% of all Scouts ever reach this pinnacle. A member of Troop 109 and previously Pack 109 in Lisbon Falls, Hauger has been involved in Scouting since the age of 6. On his trail to Eagle, he completed not only the 21 required merit badges for the rank, but 26 additional: ranging from Leatherworking, Pioneering and Citizenship in The Community to Life Saving, Canoeing and Archaeology, according to a news release from Gary Hauger, Gregg’s father.

Gregg has served his troop in several leadership positions, including senior patrol leader. He joined the staff of the National Youth Leadership program at Camp William Hinds. He served as a counselor-in-training at Camp Hinds last summer and looks forward to returning this year as a full time member of the camp staff.

He also is a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow, the National Honor Society of Scouting, where he serves as the Ceremonies Committee chairman.

For his Eagle scout project, Gregg cleaned and refurbished the entry foyer for the Lisbon Area Christian Outreach food pantry at the MTM Center.
