Join us on May 4 (rain date May 11) at 9 a.m. at the Otisfield Community Hall. A noon lunch for the volunteers will be provided by the Community Lunch Group.
OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Conservation Committee has scheduled its annual clean-up of town roads for Saturday, May 4 from 9 a.m. to noon. The rain date is May 11. Unfortunately, once again there is a lot of trash on the sides of our roads. Our beautiful town needs your help!
It is suggested that volunteers wear boots, gloves, and bug spray, as the sides of the roads may still be wet. The town will provide trash bags, safety vests, and plastic gloves. On May 4, we will meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Otisfield Community Hall on Route 121. This year the Conservation Committee has decided that we will not give out plastic water bottles to our participants. We ask that you bring your own sustainable water containers. Did you know that of the more than 70 billion plastic water bottles bought in our country each year, 3 out of 4 of them end up in a landfill or incinerator? Hundreds of millions end up as litter on our roads and beaches or in streams and other waterways. In turn, taxpayers pay hundreds of millions of dollars each year for disposal and litter cleanup.
Want to clean up your own road that day or on another day? Please do and then join us for lunch. The members of the Otisfield Social Outreach Committee (Community Lunch Group) will be feeding the volunteers lunch at the Community Hall after the clean-up. Gluten-free and vegetarian options will be available. Please let us know if you will be joining us for lunch to ensure that we have the right amount of food.

Also, we need to know if you are able to bring a pick-up truck that day to transport trash to the Casco Bulky Waste and the Otisfield Transfer Station.
